EMERGENCY RELIEF
Evil can surface in big and small ways, leaving Christians destitute. Many believers are in peril, desperate to be rescued from their oppressors. They may have left everything behind as they fled the attackers. It may be a pastor unjustly arrested for his faith. Or a recent Christian convert kicked out of her home by her Muslim husband.
Our team is privileged to serve believers and give them hope in their time of greatest need, where evil and the sacred intersect. Here are a few examples where ICC quickly responded with emergency relief:
- In August 2023, when an angry mob of radical Muslims destroyed churches and homes of Christians in Jaranwala, Pakistan, we gave direct aid to families and pastors on the front lines. Our staff helped rebuild lives and homes.
- Since September 2023, 120,000 Armenian Christians had no choice but to flee Artsakh after Azerbaijan forces overran the enclave. This final blow in their seemingly endless conflict caused a massive refugee crisis as Christians fled to greater Armenia and beyond, rather than live under Azeri rule. We provided families with necessities – including tents, food, and clothing – and are now helping them establish new roots and begin new lives.
- We support a life-saving orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) run by a big-hearted Christian couple. The ruthless Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists decimate Christians and villages throughout this region. One of the three buildings at the orphanage had an electrical fire – fortunately, no one was hurt – and we are in the process of rebuilding. The orphanage houses more than 200 young people. We recently supplied them with medicine, mattresses, and a fish farm.
- We give hope to widows in Nigeria whose husbands have been killed by extremists, including Fulani militants. Many widows end up in government-run IDP (Internally Displaced People) camps, where they continue to be victimized. Through a new initiative and partner, we supply the widows with a small plot of land to raise chickens (they can sell the eggs). We also buy them a small cooking stove.
Your gift to the ICC Emergency Fund supports these and other projects.
