ICC Note:

Two Al-Shabaab agents were arrested while on their way to Nairobi. They were carrying several bombs and bomb making materials and were planning on conducting an attack on the Capitol of Kenya in their continued struggle to fight the African Union in Somalia. They have been conducting increased attacks in Kenya’s North and east borders with Somalia. This is one of the first attacks heading for the capitol which is much further inside the country then Al-Shabaab’s usual targets. Thankfully police were tipped off about the movement of the individuals prior to their planned attack.

07/19/2017 Kenya (Tuko) – Two men have been arrested and are now in police custody after they were found with deadly bombs and bomb making materials. The pair was apprehended Monday July 17 near the Kenya-Somalia border while attempting to sneak Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) to Kenya.

Reports indicate that the men were driving the car laden with the weapons when they were apprehended by the police in Jubbaland. Police in Jubbaland received information of the plan to sneak the explosives into Kenya and arrested the two in Dhobleey near the Kenya-Somalia border.
