ICC Note:

A Chinese pastor that has been imprisoned is in desperate need of medical care. In a recent meeting with Yang Hua, his lawyer says that he was so weak he had to be carried in to the room. He was in extreme pain with an inflamed and ulcerated leg. Doctors have recommended that he be taken to a hospital or he may have to have his leg amputated. Still, little has been done, even antibiotics that have been prescribed have not been given to him. Pastor Yang Hua is serving a prison sentence for “divulging state secrets.” China detains and tortures pastors and rights activists to force confessions that can remove them from the public sphere.

The physician on duty at the detention center treated it as nothing more than a superficial skin infection and administered painkillers. Yang’s condition has been rapidly deteriorating since.

On March 24, the lawyer again met with Yang Hua and found that earlier in the day he had been given a physical examination at the Guizhou Provincial People’s Hospital. Yang Hua also explained the following about his condition.
