ICC Note: Four Cameroonian soldiers that were coordinating an attack on Boko Haram died in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The insurgency of the Islamic terrorist group has killed thousands of people and displaced over two million people in the Lake Chad region, including persecuted Christians. Even though a multinational force has been fighting the extremists and they claim progress in the operation, Boko Haram carried out several attacks against Christians towards the end of 2016 and public places in the beginning of 2017.
1/23/2017, Nigeria (Africa News) – The commander, General Jacob Kodji also died in the crash near Bogo, a village in the Far North region, while on an inspection mission, a top military official said.
“We have lost four men, including the General (Jacob Kodji)” and a colonel, a senior military official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
They died when the Cameroonian army helicopter crashed in the village, the source added without specifying the cause of the accident.
