Human rights lawyer kidnapped in China

A Christian human rights lawyer who has already been kidnapped and tortured by Chinese officials has been kidnapped again. Jiang Tianyong was visiting with an imprisoned human rights attorney’s family when he was abducted. So far, he has been held for more than 24 hours. China has strengthened its grip on human rights in 2016 by passing new laws to silence “dissident” lawyers and requiring them to take the position of the state on human rights issues and religious freedom. Jiang’s case is one of many in a new crackdown on human rights attorneys, a profession that was recently referred to as one of the most dangerous in China.

11/23/2016 China (China Aid) – Authorities kidnapped a Christian human rights lawyer yesterday and have been holding for more than 24 hours.

Jiang Tianyong, a human rights attorney, was visiting the family of another imprisoned defense lawyer, Xie Yang, in Changsha, Hunan, when authorities abducted him. In the past, officials repeatedly kidnapped and tortured Jiang.
