ISIS pamphlets detail shocking teachings on treatment of sex slaves
ICC Note: Pamphlets found in liberated villages in Northern Iraq detail outlines on how ISIS militants are to treat female sex slaves. The colorful handbooks apparently exist to help jihadists answer ethical questions regard female captives. Harrowing reports from escaped women have revealed unparalleled abuses dished out by the militant group, these newly discovered pamphlets now reveal more about life under ISIS control.
Based on the documents obtained, “non-Muslim women can be taken as concubines.” In addition, ISIS clerics can distribute female slaves among their subordinates. The pamphlets also say militants are allowed to own two sisters as concubines but they can only have sex with one, Christian Today reports.
“Pre-pubescent girls can be taken as concubines. You cannot have penetrative sex but you can still enjoy them,” the ISIS leaflet instructs.
Another leaflet also stipulates the compulsory wearing of beards, which is defined as hair growing on face and cheeks. The ISIS fighters are not allowed to shave.
Villagers who escaped from previously ISIS-held areas said those who violated the rules written on the posters and pamphlets face punishment. Some are publicly whipped or taken to Mosul for execution.
Last month, a 22-year-old Yazidi was reunited with her children and family after spending the last 27 months as an ISIS sex slave. Gazal told Fox News about her harrowing experience of being taken when she was with her baby boy and young daughter. An Iraqi man named Abu Haibs, who was called the Wali, looked at all the women but chose Gazal because of her beauty.
Gazal said the Wali took away his son for two days when she refused to marry the Wali. After she was tortured, she finally agreed to marry him. However, there was no contract or ceremony, but only rape and forced conversion to Islam.
