Chibok Parents React to Boko Haram’s New Video
ICC Note: Chibok parents were angered by Boko Haram’s new video where their leader, Abubakar Shekau, says that if they want their girls back, they need to “bring back our brethren.” On previous videos released by the terrorist group, Shekau has demanded the release of their jailed fighters in exchange for the Chibok girls. Many of the parents feel mocked by the video and demand the government to release the Boko Haram fighters, so that they can release the girls. In previous videos released by the militant group, Shekau has made demands calling for the release of Boko Haram fighters in exchange for the Chibok girls.
Some of their relatives told CNN that this new video underlines that the Nigerian government needs to act urgently to secure the release of the missing girls.
