Christians Urge Authorities to Look into Forced Marriage of Christian Girl, Killing of Father
ICC Note: Christians and social activists are condemning the recent abduction and forced conversion of a Christian girl and the murder of her father near Faisalabad. Christian groups held a press conference on Wednesday, calling for an unbiased look the case so that justice might be served. The family of these two victims has received no assistance from the local authorities, even after reporting the incident, and the attendees of the press conference are calling for change. The family of the victims lacks the resources to fight a protracted legal battle. The girl was reportedly kidnapped by Muslim neighbors in March, and her father was killed a few months later during an attempt to meet with his daughter’s captors.
07/27/2016, Faisalabad, Pakistan (Christians in Pakistan) – Christians heap condemnation on the heinous forced conversion of the Christian girl, followed by murder of her father. In this regard Christian held a press conference at the Faisalabad Press Club today July 27, Wednesday. The press conference was headed by Father Simon Khurshid, Director of National Commission for Justice and Peace Faisalabad.
This press conference was attended by prominent Christians including Lala Robin Daniel, a social activist and many others. While addressing the media, Christians heaped condemnation in the incident calling for an unbiased probe into the kidnapping and murder. They said that all found guilty must be hooked, and brought to justice, so that such incidents are thwarted.
