06/14/2016 Middle East (Christian Daily): A new movie aims to highlight what underground Christians living in the Middle East face every day as they live out their faith in a place where they are surrounded by hostility and persecution.

Filmmaker Joel Richardson is hoping to reveal the struggles of underground Christians in the Middle East through his new movie titled “The Global Jesus Revolution.” He also hopes that his upcoming movie will encourage Christians to spread the gospel and tell of the persecution happening in the Middle East at the same time, Crosswalk reports.

Richardson recently spoke to Christian Today and explained that “The Global Jesus Revolution” was inspired by the real-life stories of underground Christians in the Middle East. He narrated how these secret believers have strived to stick with their faith despite the chaos and trials afflicting them.

The director of the new Christian film said he got the idea of travelling to nations affected by the Arab Spring and hear stories from church leaders. The movie also serves as a reminder for believers to see God’s hand behind all the events unfolding in those places, and to ask what is the purpose of everything that is happening in the Middle East.

In addition, Richardson said American Christians have an important role to play in the present situation. He said most of the believers in the United States become too absorbed with the current political issues and they tend to forget that they ought to help raise awareness for their persecuted brothers and remember the purpose of God’s gospel.
