Nigerian Governor Predicts Worse Fate Coming Than Boko Haram

ICC Note: A Nigerian governor from the northeastern state Boko Haram has ravaged the worst thinks that future threats like the extremist Muslim group exist around the corner, even if the military defeats Boko Haram. Borno State Governor Alhaji Kashim Shettima said that radical groups such as Boko Haram arise from the kind of extreme poverty that characterizes Nigeria’s north. As the Christian Church seeks to evangelize northern Nigeria and press into predominantly Muslim territory, persecution becomes a regular experience and indeed, the Church may continue to suffer for the Name of Christ where the gospel is preached, just as Jesus promised.

4/1/16 Borno State, Nigeria (AllAfrica) – Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has alerted that the defeat of the Boko Haram insurgency may not necessarily be the end of such experience in the country as there are numerous indications that the nation may be faced with worse scenarios in not too distant future.

Speaking during the visit of a team from the United Nations led by its resident coordinator in Nigeria, Ms. Fatma Samoura on Thursday, Shettima said: “Boko Haram may be an appetizer for worse things to come unless we put our thinking caps on.”
