International Christian Concern (ICC)
Releases Vietnam Prisoner List

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

You are free to disseminate the following news. We request that you reference International Christian Concern and include our web address, www.www.persecution.org .

5/7/04– The Washington-DC based human rights group, International Christian Concern (ICC) www.www.persecution.org, has just released their most recent Vietnam prisoner list available for viewing on their website at /news/In_Depth/Breaking_news_184.htm. Look for the link to the Vietnam Prisoner list under “In-Depth Stories”.

This list is not comprehensive. There are most likely still many imprisoned that are not on this list. The prisoner list details the current incarceration of 64 pastors from the ethnic tribes of Vietnam (these tribes typically have a large percentage of Christians and have been under intense persecution from the government). In addition to the prisoners, the list makes reference to two men who are missing as well as the names of two martyred pastors.

Vietnam is a communist regime where freedom of religion does not exist. Christians within the country are routinely harassed, beaten, imprisoned, and even murdered for practicing their faith.

ICC encourages American Christians to pray for the men on the prisoner list and others who may be unjustly imprisoned for their faith in Vietnam. In addition, ICC urges everyone to go to www.www.persecution.org and sign the petition to have Vietnam listed as a country of particular concern by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF)
