8/14/2025 Vietnam (International Christian Concern) — As a priest quietly led a Catholic mass in the home of one of the 20 worshippers in the evening of Aug. 11 in Binh Khang, located in the Dai Tu district in northeast Vietnam, village authorities cut the home’s electricity to stop the service. Then they detained three church members.

The three arrested included the owner of the house, the leader of the local Catholic community, and another church member.

Multiple worshippers turned to social media, particularly Facebook, to livestream the arrests. The footage was uploaded to the Bac Ninh Diocese’s Facebook page, and within two hours, the videos had been shared hundreds of times and had gained more than 60,000 views.

Local officials have not given any reason as to why the mass was stopped or provided any update on the three worshippers who were arrested.
