8/13/2025 DRC (International Christian Concern) — Two separate attacks attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a terrorist group operating in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), occurred during the weekend in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri, causing renewed concern over civilian safety and regional stability.

The first ambush occurred on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 9, along the Eringeti-Kainama road in the Beni territory in North Kivu Province. According to a local civil society representative, confirmed by security sources based in Eringeti, ADF rebels targeted a specific vehicle and abducted its passengers.

“A civilian car was ambushed and shot at,” said the civil society leader, who wished to remain anonymous. “We still don’t have a complete casualty report, but passengers were kidnapped, and the attack was clearly deliberate and well-coordinated.”

The second, more deadly attack occurred during the night of Sunday, Aug. 10, in Boga village, located in Ituri Province.

According to the provisional report released by the Office of the Convention for the Respect of Human Rights (CRDH/Irumu) and a Radio Communautaire Maendeleo/RCM Bunia broadcast on Aug. 11, at least three people were killed, several vehicles and houses were set ablaze, and many residents remain missing.

“Bodies were found early this morning,” reported Radio Communautaire Maendeleo, quoting a member of local civil society in Boga. “At least three confirmed dead, many cars and houses burned, and some families are still looking for their missing relatives. This is a tragedy for our community.”

In addition to these incidents, ADF rebels were reportedly seen in the Tingwe area, north of Eringeti in Beni territory. A civil society leader in Eringeti issued a public call for increased vigilance.

“Our population must stay alert,” he said. “We are facing a persistent threat, and only by working together with the security forces and remaining cautious can we avoid further bloodshed.”

Local authorities and security forces remain on high alert, with ongoing military operations underway to track down the perpetrators and restore calm in the affected zones.
