2 Church Construction Workers Killed in Indonesia

6/20/2025 Indonesia (International Christian Concern) — Two church construction workers were recently shot and killed as they worked on a church building in Indonesia.
The victims, Rahmat Hidayat, 45, and Saepudin, 39, were from Purwakarta, West Java. Both died at the scene on June 4 while working on the GKI Immanuel Church in Kwantapo Village, Asotipo District.
According to witness statements, the shooting occurred at around 8 a.m. as two armed men walked up and opened fire on the victims. Saepudin suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while Rahmat was shot in the left armpit.
The two construction workers reportedly attempted to flee before the gunmen chased after them and fired at them.
The leader of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Pol Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, strongly condemned the killings and said authorities are pursuing the suspects.
Throughout Indonesia, Muslims have repeatedly denied the construction of new church buildings in their communities.
