Indonesian Authorities Arrest 3 Suspected JAD Terrorists
11/8/2024 Indonesia (International Christian Concern) — Indonesia’s Special Detachment (Densus 88) Anti-Terrorism Unit arrested three suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group on Monday in Central Java.
JAD, founded by convicted terrorist Aman Abdurrahman in Batu, East Java, in 2015, follows a Salafi-Jihadi ideology and is affiliated with the Islamic State group (IS). This group is reportedly responsible for church bombings in Surabaya in 2018 and Makassar in 2021.
Authorities said one of the three suspects planned some of the group’s attacks. Another acted as a social media manager, uploading propaganda to provoke terror. Officers secured several pieces of evidence following the arrests, including weapons, jihadist propaganda, and communications tools.
Officials said more arrests are likely.
“It is being investigated,” said Densus 88 Spokesperson, Grand Commissioner Aswin Siregar. “It is possible (the number of arrests will increase) from the development of the investigation later.”
