House Church Preacher in Ningxia Arrested for Illegal Gathering
02/24/2022 China (International Christian Concern) – On February 19, a house church preacher’s wife sent a prayer request for Panshi church and her imprisoned husband Geng Zejun, who leads the church, and five other Christians released on bail, including herself.
According to China Aid, after the church in Huinong District, Shizuishan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, was raided during its Sunday service on December 5, 2021, Preacher Geng Zejun was administratively detained for 15 days. Five other Christians were administratively detained for 10 days and released on bail: Hao Ying (Geng’s wife), Luo Shiping, Ye Ningfang, Zhu Junying, and Wang Sufang.
The authorities considered these Christians’ gatherings as behavior that had severely disturbed social order and slapped the arrested with days of administrative detention.
While Preacher Geng was released last December, he was again detained in January and later arrested for “organizing and sponsoring illegal gatherings.” Hao received a notice of her husband’s formal arrest on January 25. Preacher Geng is now being detained at Shizuishan city’s detention center.
In her prayer request, Hao said, “I don’t think our church services are illegal gatherings. Fellow Christians, please pray for us and for God’s justice.”
