10/15/2021 Nagorno-Karabakh (International Christian Concern) – On the evening of October 14, Azerbaijani forces broke the standing ceasefire agreement and opened fire on a military base in Nagorno-Karabakh (Armenian: Artsakh). The incident took place in Norshen, along the lines of where Azerbaijani troops are stationed.

Six Artsakh servicemen were injured in the attack with no deaths. The six injured, including two men who were in critical condition, were transferred to Stepanakert hospital and received treatment. The two men in critical condition underwent surgery and are now stable in a non-life-threatening status.

The political and military situations have stabilized since the attack and no territory was lost. “At the moment, the situation is completely under the control of the Artsakh Defense Army and Russian peacekeepers,” according to Artsakh Minister of Foreign Affairs David Babayan.

However, once the incident calmed, the next morning on October 15 at 9 AM Azerbaijani troops opened fire again at an Artsakh Defense Army ambulance in the northeast. No casualties or injuries were reported on the Armenian side.

Both incidents were reported to Russian peacekeepers and remain the motivation for ongoing communication between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s violations of the ceasefire agreement incite concern for the stability of the region and safety for those along the border zones.
