09/17/2021 Iraq (International Christian Concern) – German prosecutor Christian Ritscher was appointed on September 7 as the head of the UN team in Iraq that investigates crimes committed by the Islamic State in Iraq. The UN team supports the Iraqi government in preserving evidence and investigating war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.

In May 2021, the UN team announced the evidence discovered pointed towards a genocide against the Yazidi minority. Ritscher’s predecessor, Karim Asad Ahmad Khan, was recently sworn in as a prosecutor for the International Criminal Court.
