10/22/2020 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – On October 14, a young Christian named Justine Patrick and two of his friends were traveling home from the farms where they worked. According to the report by Morningstar News, Justine and his friends were then attacked by Fulani, who hacked Justine to death with machetes. A local resident named Ruth Pam told the online news group that “Patrick’s companions, Daniel Gyang and Sele Dung, escaped being killed by the armed herdsmen.”

It is unclear at this time if the two friends were even hurt in the attack, or if they escaped with no injuries. The death of Justine however, is another example of the attacks that have plagued Nigeria for the past several decades. The attackers will likely never be found or prosecuted as the Nigerian government has shown that they care nothing for the deaths of civilians like Justine. There have been hundreds of attacks like this in 2020 alone. Thousands of people have died at the hands of extremists groups such as Boko Haram and the Fulani militants. Despite this, the Nigerian government continues to turn a blind eye to the violence throughout the Middle Belt.
