08/30/2020 Sudan (International Christian Concern) – Late last night, the main rebel group in Sudan finished a peace agreement with the new government in the country. This agreement, which is supposed to be signed on Monday would end the fighting between these two entities that has been ongoing for the last 17 years. The atrocities that have been committed during this fighting have amounted to genocide and crimes against humanity.

Many of these crimes have been placed at the feet of the former president of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, who was toppled from his 30 year reign in 2019. Bashir is still in custody and awaiting the end of trials for these crimes.

If this peace agreement is able to hold, it could mean safety and security for hundreds of thousands of people in Darfur, South Kardofan, and the Blue Nile states of Southern Sudan. It could also mean more freedom and ability for the people of Sudan to grow towards democracy. Please be praying that this agreement holds and brings peace to many people.
