11/18/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – MorningStar News has reported that there was an attack by suspected Fulani militants on an Agom village in Kaduna State last Thursday night. During the attack, the gunmen stormed the villages, burned some of the homes and murdered two men, Monday Kura, 87, and Emmanuel Agom, 48, both members of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC).

Morning Star news received the information from a local who sent them a text, saying, “The Fulani herdsmen cut Monday Kura, 87 years, with a machete until he died, while Emmanuel, 48 years, was shot dead with a gun. Sir, we need your prayers as my village is on fire and we are not getting any protection from the government.” Morning Star then states that they have not been able to immediately confirm the attack. It is however likely that an attack like this took place as Kaduna has seen a very high amount of violence and kidnappings over the past two years.

The royal leader of this ethnic group, the Agom Adara, was kidnapped and murder in October of last year. Though the government claims to have caught his killer, no news about any prosecution has come out. This is just one of the more notable attacks on these communities. According to Morning Star’s research, more than 140 people have been killed in Kaduna in similar attacks to these.
