07/11/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – Journalist and now author, Isha Sesay, has released a book called Beneath the Tamarind Tree. In the book, she details out the stories and lives of many of the Chibok Girls who she was able to meet and talk with. Coming from a small town in Seirra Leone, Sesay writes that she is not far removed from the girls in Chibok and helps her write with passion.

The book focuses on what the girls went through while in captivity and how they have survived since regaining their freedom. It is Sesay’s way of trying to get the world to remember and care about these girls and those who have not returned. Though the attack and kidnapping took place more than 5 years ago, there are still more than 110 girls missing.

The world has forgotten though. These girls have been swallowed by the press of more recent news stories. The Nigerian government has mentioned these girls and their plights less and less. The US has stopped calling for their release and celebrities have stopped their #BringBackOurGirls campaign. We as Christians cannot forget though. These are our sisters in Christ. They are being held captive along with many other people in Northeast Nigeria by Boko Haram. Please remember to pray for those still lost and their families who are surely losing hope that they will ever return.
