06/14/2019 Palestine (International Christian Concern) – A recent report from Fides has revealed the depth to which Christianity has become marginalized in Palestine. The report looks at four Palestinian villages and shows how Christians have become a tiny minority within the population. For example, Palestine’s largest city of Jenin has a population of 40,000. However, there are only 130 known Christians living there.

Palestine is the site of many Biblical locations and is often considered the birthplace of Christianity. The last century, however, has been incredibly challenging for Palestinian Christians.

The chaos and violence which has come to define Palestine has had a detrimental effect for the area’s dwindling Christian community. The Palestinian Authority has established Islam as the official religion and leaders have not consistently condemned religiously motivated violence. Christians are viewed as accessible and easy targets by hardline Islamists, and they often face challenges pushing persecution incidents through a fair judicial process.
