05/30/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – Boko Haram has attacked and killed 7 villagers in Jere local council area of Borno state on Monday morning. They also stole food and other supplies during the attack. One villager reported to Sahara Reporters that none of the deceased were killed by gunshot, but had been killed with machete cuts to the throat.

This attack, though not specifically targeting Christians, is a bad sign that Boko Haram is continuing to gain strength. The supplies that they stole will only help them sustain their campaign of terror. As they gain back strength, they have taken military bases, killed many more civilians and soldiers and gained weapons and supplies.

The government of Nigeria has also finally begun saying that Boko Haram has made a resurgence. However, the army came out this week trying to blame NGO’s such as UNICEF, saying that they are funding and training Boko Haram. This claims show that they still have a fatally flawed understanding of the situation in Northeast Nigeria.
