05/20/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – Boko Haram attacked a refugee center in Northeast Nigeria, killing two people and injuring more than ten others. The attack took place on Saturday, May 18, in the Madu Musaha refugee camp near Dikwa Town. Dikwa is about 60 miles from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The attackers entered the camp while many of the Muslim refugees were eating their breakfast before dawn, as it is currently Ramadan. The group of terrorists opened fire on the refugees in the camp and were able to escape before the military responded. It is unclear at this time if the group was able to steal any supplies, though it is likely as they have used this tactic to gain supplies in the past.

Maiduguri is not only the capital of Borno, but is also the birthplace of Boko Haram and the epicenter for Boko Haram attacks. Many towns and refugee camps near the city have suffered the same kind of attacks as this one. The government has been trying to quell the terrorist group since it began in 2009, but has had only minimal success. Despite these attacks, the Buhari Administration has claimed the technical defeat of the group for more than a year.
