05/03/2019 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – The United States Department of State will host its second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom in July. After last year’s success, the State Department will again gather hundreds of government representatives from foreign nations, religious leaders, victims of religious persecution, and representatives of numerous civil society groups. The event will go beyond mere conversation and instead formulate concrete plans of action to push for greater religious freedom across the world.

Vice President Mike Pence was the keynote speaker at last year’s Ministerial, during which he announced the establishment of the Genocide Recovery and Persecution Response Program to provide financial support for persecuted Yazidis and Christians and to mobilize civil society efforts in the Middle East. The Department of State hopes to build on last year’s success and continue to foster dialogue among government leaders, victims, and civil society groups.
