03/23/2019 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – In Myanmar, the conflict between the Tamadaw and the Kachin Independent Army has left many families vulnerable. ICC connected with five displaced families that lost loved ones in the conflict. In each of their situations, the individual killed had served as the main provider for the family. Therefore, following their deaths, the families not only had to deal with their grief, but also the reality of finding a new source of income.

In order to help these families get back on their feet, we provided them with piglets to raise, breed, and sell. The women who were raised in farming families in this village are very familiar with the business of piglet breed­ing. Each of the families received four piglets and the funds necessary to purchase feed for the animals. Once the pigs are fully grown, the women will be able to sell them easily to earn money for their families. Additionally, this business will allow the women to work while also taking care of their families.
