3/22/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern)- Following the attack in Borno state last Thursday by Boko Haram, the terrorist organization continued their siege on March 18 by attacking a Christian-majority town in Adamawa state. Residents of Michika were forced to flee to the surrounding areas as Boko Haram descended upon their homes. There are currently an unknown number of casualties in the town of more than 375,000.

Michika was one of five towns also attacked by Boko Haram in February. This incident marks at least the third attack committed by Boko Haram in March. There was an attempted suicide bombing at a church in Adamawa state earlier this month that was thankfully thwarted by local civilians without any casualties.

The rise in attacks by Boko Haram has sparked fear in many living in territory that used to be controlled by the radical group. Michika in particular was under Boko Haram control for several months in 2014 before it was recaptured by Nigerian troops in 2015. As they continue to regain strength and support, Christians are likely to become a main target again, as they were in the early years of the group.
