12/22/2018 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) – After 13 years of operations, World Vision has been kicked out of Pakistan along with 17 other charities. With this move, Pakistan has joined with neighbors like China, India, and Russia in restricting foreign involvement in their country under the guise of greater security.

Last year, 27 organizations were given expulsion orders by the Pakistani government. Eighteen of those organizations, including World Vision, continued operations while they appealed the decision.

According to the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum the expulsion of these charities represents a $130 million loss in aid to more than 11 million people. New laws restricting international organizations going forward will limit work on issues such as human rights, democracy, religious tolerance, social accountability, and women’s empowerment.

The government of Pakistan must regulate and monitor non-government organizations,” Humphrey Peters, a Moderator for the Church of Pakistan, told Christianity Today. “But international Christian organizations should be allowed to operate, provided local churches stand as a guarantee to them.
