ICC Note:

Indonesia’s military is on the alert as the country prepares for Christmas. Three suspected terrorists were killed by Indonesia’s anti-terrorism unit. They were found with bombs while preparing for an attack. More than a dozen jihadists have been arrested as well for planning attacks. Indonesia has mobilized more than 150,000 military and para-military personnel to increase security and help protect churches during the Christmas season. Religious tension is high as radical Muslims have stepped up their rhetoric and acted out against Christian minorities over the past few months. Many of them have been emboldened by the trial of the Chinese-Christian Governor Jakarta for blasphemy against the Quran.

12/21/2016 Indonesia (Time) – Members of Indonesia’s counterterrorism squad have shot dead three suspected terrorists and arrested one in South Tangerang, on the outskirts of Jakarta.

The three, who were armed with bombs, were killed during a raid in a rented house, Jakarta police chief Mochamad Iriawan told local media on Wednesday morning, shortly after the shootout. Police also found “active bombs” on the scene.
