ICC Note: An old Christian graveyard in Mian Channu, Pakistan is falling into decay due to lack of renovation and care from the local government which has neglected the site. This lack of care over time has led to the desecration of many of the graves on the site. Christians in the area are upset by this neglect and have criticized the local government for not looking in to this situation. Christians have populated this area for many years, since before the creation of Pakistan, yet the local authorities have refused to take action to protect this site that is so important to them. Pakistan is a predominantly Muslim country where Christians face various forms of severe discrimination and persecution.

08/15/2016, Mian Channu, Pakistan (Christians in Pakistan) – Historic graveyard of Christians in Mian Channu, neglected by the authorities. The graveyard which is facing deterioration with the passage of time is imperiled because of the lack of renovation and care from the local authorities. What is more, wear and tear is now causing desecration of graves of Christians.

Local Christians claim the graveyard is undergoing wear while the local authorities are overlooking the situation. They expressed serious concerns over the desecration of graves of their loved ones. They said that the Christian population had been residing in the area, even before the creation of Pakistan.
