ICC Note: Thirteen people were killed in a blast on Tuesday at the African Union Troops base in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. Two vehicles drove into the base and then detonated explosives in the suicide attack where militant Islamist terror group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility. According to an al-Shabaab spokesman, they targeted this base trying to rid Somalia of foreign forces stationed on what they consider to be Muslim lands. Al-Shabaab has become notorious for primarily targeting military installations, buses and civilian institutions, often separating Christians from Muslims and murdering the believers.

07/26/2016, Mogadishu, Somalia (AllAfrica) – At least 13 people were killed when two vehicles packed with explosives went off as they were driven towards a base for African Union troops in the Somali capital, according to officials and witnesses.

White smoke could be seen billowing over the city after the blast on Tuesday.
