Chibok Girls: Amina Ali Nkeki to Meet President Buhari
ICC Note: Rescued Nigerian Chibok girl is set to meet President Muhammadu Buhari after she was reported rescued yesterday from Sambisa Forest. Amina was one of 276 girls that Boko Haram abducted in April 2014 from a government school, whisking them away to be forcibly converted to Islam and married off to fighters. Members of a local vigilante group discovered Amina as she wandered to the fringes of the forest collecting fire wood. Amina’s recovery raises hopes that many of the other girls might be found.
5/19/16 Nigeria (BBC) – The first of the missing Nigerian schoolgirls to be rescued since her capture two years ago is to meet President Muhammadu Buhari.
Amina Ali Nkeki, 19, was found with a baby by an army-backed vigilante group on Tuesday in the huge Sambisa Forest, close to the border with Cameroon.
She was one of 219 pupils missing since being abducted from a secondary school in the town of Chibok in April 2014.
They were taken by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram.
