ICC Note: ICC’s Egypt Correspondent has received word that 4 Egyptian Christians were arrested in Libya for “proselytizing.”  This word is basically an overarching term used by by Radical Islamist adherents who prosecute Christians for anything they consider to be “witnessing” or any public expression of their faith in a Muslim majority nation.  There are no specific guidelines to a “proselytizing” charge so an arrest can be made against any Christian for acts such as “carrying a Bible” in public under the guise of “proselytizing” by claiming that “it was a Christian attempt to spread their beliefs.”  This is basic persecution against the freedom of expression and religious beliefs.  Proselytizing laws limit Christians to only be Christians in the hidden basements of their homes, underground.  Further, this act by the Libyan government undermines the concept of comity under international law in denying Egyptian authorities the opportunity to diplomatically discuss the arrest on foreign charges that cannot be proven and are not recognized under basic standards of legal behavior – nevermind the fact that Libya’s government is an interim and unstable body that should not be allowed the jurisdiction over Egyptian citizens, whose government is more legitimate to try cases for their own citizens.

3/14/2016 Benghazi, Libya (Christian Dogma) – translated from Arabic.  Libyan police in the city of Benghazi, yesterday, arrested four Egyptian Christians in possession of Christian books, it said to be wanted by the “turf” in Libya Police Department, on suspicion of exercising active missionary.
