Nigeria Police Hunt Lagos Schoolgirls’ kidnappers
ICC Note: Gunmen have abducted three teenage girls from an Anglican school in Lagos, Nigeria. Abductions are common in Nigeria’s commercial capital, but incidents like this remind us of the more than 200 schoolgirls still missing from Chibok, Nigeria whom Boko Haram kidnapped in April 2014. Most of those girls are Christians. In the present case, no evidence has surfaced linking the abduction to Boko Haram and those responsible remain silent on issuing demands, according to the BBC.
3/2/16 Lagos, Nigeria (BBC) – Nigerian police are hunting for three teenage girls abducted from their boarding school on the outskirts of Lagos city by heavily armed men.
Kidnappings for ransom occasionally occur in Nigeria’s commercial capital, but this is the first time a school in the city has been attacked by gunmen.
The girls were taken from a private co-educational secondary school on Monday evening.
A BBC reporter in Lagos says the abductors have yet to issue demands.
