ICC Note: Kenya is pulling troops from two military bases inside Somalia, one of which that’s been attacked by al-Shabaab. The militanst Islamic terror group all the while continues to make andvances, seizing towns in Sommalia. The move by the Kenyan government will illicit an interesting response from al-Shabaab who originally formed to kick Kenyan troops out of Somalia. Al-Shabaab is notorious for separating Christians from Muslims during attacks, killing Christians and letting Muslims go free. They have employed this tactic in recent bus attacks as well as in Garissa, when they attacked a college campus, killing 148 people, mostly Christians.

1/26/16 Kenya (BBC) – Kenyan forces have pulled out from two military bases in Somalia, including one attacked by militant Islamist group al-Shabab, residents have told the BBC.

Al-Shabab fighters have seized the southern town of Badhadhe after the troops retreated, a local MP said.

Soldiers also left el-Ade, where al-Shabab said it had killed about 100 Kenyan soldiers 11 days ago.

A Kenyan army spokesman said troops were involved in a “normal operational manoeuvre” and not a withdrawal.
