ICC Note: In the same week Iran is granted sanctions relief under the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, an Iranian Christian, who was imprisoned after converting to Christianity, was sentenced to five more years in prison after being denied release when his original sentence expired.  The prisoner, Ibrahim Firouzi, has been denied necessary medical treatments.

01/11/2016 Iran (Worthy News) – In lieu of his medical treatments, an Iranian Christian in Rajai Shahr Prison, north-west of Tehran, Iran, was instead given five more years in prison.

According to the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Ebrahim Firouzi was first arrested by agents of the Islamic Republic on Aug. 25, 2013; he was later condemned by a court in Robat Karim to one year in prison and two years of exile in Sarbaz County. But though his term ended last January, Firouzi was kept in prison after new charges of “acting against national security” were levied against him.

Firouzi is currently in Ward 10 of Gohardasht Prison.
