Kenya: Security Upped Amid Al-Shabaab Terrorism Threats

ICC Note: Threat of attacks by Al-Shabaab during the Muslim festival of Idd-ul-adha have compelled Kenyan authorities to heighten security measures. Private companies are partnering with local police to improve the security of their facilities to be better prepared for possible attacks. Al-Shabaab usually self-consciously targets Christians however, it is likely the festival season could be a soft target for attacks in general as individuals could potentially be caught by surprise.

09/26/2015 Kenya (All Africa) – Security has been heightened across the country after reports indicated that terrorists were likely to attack during this festive season.

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has said police have credible information that Al-Shabaab terrorists were likely to strike, especially during the Idd-ul-adha festival celebrated by Muslims.
