Fourth Catholic Clergyman Abducted by Armed Men in April

The second abduction of Catholic clergy this month provides further support for what ICC alleges to be a growing trend of abductions in the region specifically targeting Christians. Following the kidnapping of three members of the Catholic Clergy from a small parish in Tchéré, Cameroon and the mass-kidnapping of 243 girls from a northern Nigerian secondary school, the abduction of Bishop Nestor-Désiré Nongo-Aziagbia of Bossangoa raises serious concerns as to the safety and security of those operating on Christian mission in Western and Central Africa.
04/17/2014 Central African Republic (Turkish Press) – A Christian priest was abducted from Bossangoa, a town west of the Central African Republic (CAR), local sources said on Wednesday.
According to the sources, the priest, Nestor-Désiré, was abducted by armed men.
The mineral-rich country descended into anarchy one year ago when Seleka rebels – said to be mostly Muslim – ousted Christian President Francois Bozize, who had come to power in a 2003 coup.
