11-8-2013 Egypt (International Christian Concern)-Christians in Egypt continue to suffer at the hands of Islamic radicals and supporters of the ousted former President Mohamed Morsi. Despite the fact that November is not even halfway finished the month has already been packed with violence against the Christian minority in Egypt.
According to ICC sources, on November 1, Morsi supporters, exiting the Aziz Bellah mosque after Friday prayers, targeted Christians by writing “offensive phrases” on the walls of St. Mary Church in Sinan Street in Zeitoun district in Cairo. Among the abusive phrases were, “Christians are the dogs of the military” and “Egypt is an Islamic country despite Christians.”  While some of the church youth tried to prevent them from vandalizing the church, the crowds grew and chanted “slanderous slogans against the Christians.”
On November 8, Morsi supporters gathered again in front of St. Mary’s church, vandalizing the building a second time. The crowds chanted “Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar” as they attempted to break into the building. Church security guards intervened, preventing the crowds to storm the church, however in the clash a number of people were injured, reported ICC sources.
Also, on November 8, Christians were targeted by Morsi supporters in the Omrania area in the Giza Governorate.  Beginning their march from the Khatem El-Morsaleen mosque, the crowd continued to Edawy Salim street where the proceeded to destroy three stores own by Christians. As the violence increased the personal property of Christians was destroyed while many believers were also injured.
As tensions continue in Egypt, it is clear that Christians will continue to be targeted.
