ICC Note:
Vahik Abrahamian, a dual citizen of Iran and the Netherlands who was imprisoned for more than a year for “spreading the Christian faith,” was released and returned to the Netherlands with his wife Sonia on September 15, Farsi Christian News Network reports.
9/16/2011 Iran (Mohabat News) – Vahik and Sonia had always expressed their desire to remain in the country. They both are now free, and believers rejoice in their liberty and wellbeing.
According to FCNN correspondence in Europe; Vahik Abrahamian, after suffering prison for a little over a year in Hamedan, and his wife Sonia; left Tehran in the early hours of Thursday 15th Sep. 2011, for exile in Holland.
The arrangements had been made with the approval of the Islamic Regime and help of “The Embassy of Netherlands” in Iran.
This Armenian-Iranian couple, along with their house guests were arrested by the agents of Islamic Regime’s Ministry of State Security in their own home in Hamedan, on Saturday Sep. 4th, 2010.
After months of imprisonment, all were proved to be innocent in court; and eventually Sonia along with the other imprisoned couple was released from prison on 30th April 2011.
However, and for as yet unknown reasons, Vahik was held in prison until Monday 29th Aug. 2011.
Vahik and Sonia had always expressed their desire to remain in the country and yet, because of the excessive intolerance of the hardliners, conditions are such that to have continued in their service to administer to the needy and social outcasts in their homeland would have put their lives in danger.
They both are now free, and believers rejoice in their liberty and wellbeing.
