Prayer Day Urged for Pakistani Christian Facing Death

ICC Note

Christians are urged to pray for Asia Bibi’s release. Asia was sentenced to death after Muslims falsely accused her of blasphemy.

01/28/2011 Pakistan (CBS News)-A human rights group is calling on Christians around the world to pray for the Pakistani woman sentenced to die for blaspheming Islam.

“Human Rights Focus Pakistan” has set a day of prayer for Asia Bibi on Sunday, Jan. 30.

“It’s an urgent [call] to gather all the Christian forces and device one combined strategy to meet this challenge,” HRFP President Naveed Walter said.

“How far the religious fanatics and fundamentalists will keep on punishing our brothers and sister like Asia Bibi for nothing? How far [and] no one takes the initiative?” he continued. “It’s a right time to start a movement.”
