11/11/2021 Turkey (International Christian Concern) – A new Turkish television series aired that tells a fictionalized story of Khairuddin Barbarossa who was born during the Ottoman Empire and appointed the grand admiral of the fleet. The story, written and produced by Turkey, pits Islam and Christianity against each other on the Mediterranean Sea.

The series, which aired in mid-September, has brought in good reviews thus far. Barbarossa’s four children battle for maritime dominance against the Pope’s right hand. The story is symbolic of Turkey’s ongoing international involvement and the religious freedom violations that it often commits as it seeks to extend its own might.

The television series was a Turkish and Algerian collaboration and is also being aired in Pakistan, spreading the Islam versus Christian rhetoric to other parts of the Muslim world.
