06/27/2021 Egypt (International Christian Concern) –  Ten Muslim men were found guilty of sectarian violence and sentenced to five years in prison in a Minya criminal court on June 15 for an attack on an elderly Christian woman.

In May 2016, a mob attacked the Christian community of Al-Karm in Minya Governate when a Christian man was accused of having a relationship with a divorced Muslim woman. Suad Thabet age 72 and the accused’s mother, was attacked, beaten and stripped naked. In December 2020, three other individuals were accused and acquitted though an appeal was made in January 2021. The verdict for the remaining three is still pending.
