09/14/2019 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – Egypt is a predominantly Muslim nation and, due to their minority status, many Egyptian Christians live in villages with minimal access to basic amenities. Mariam is one such Christian.

Mariam was married for 27 years with three sons and two daughters. However, her husband later converted to Islam and married a Muslim woman. With her husband gone, Mariam’s financial situation suffered and several Christians blamed her for his conversion. To make matters worse, Christian women in Egypt are often denied job opportunities, limiting Mariam’s ability to earn an income.

In June, ICC presented Mariam with a month’s worth of food to alleviate some of her immediate financial burden. She has been able to sustain herself in the months since and is deeply grateful to ICC for the assistance.
