05/13/2019 Burkina Faso (International Christian Concern) – Burkina Faso has suffered a second attack on a church in two weeks. On Sunday, May 12, a Catholic Church in Dablo was holding morning mass when reportedly 20 gunmen attacked, killing six, including the priest. The attack has not yet been claimed by any group, but it does show that there is a concerted effort by someone to attack and subdue Christianity going on in Burkina Faso.

The first reported attack took place on April 28, and also killed 6 of the church members, including the pastor. This was an evangelical church located in Soum. Though these are the only widely reported cases of attacks on churches in Burkina Faso this year, contacts have stated that there have actually been 5 total attacks including this most recent one. In all of the cases, church leaders have been killed and may even be the targets.

Burkina Faso is quickly becoming a country of concern for ICC. As these attacks continue, it could show that there is an active and hostile group in a country that has historically been peaceful between religions. Please pray for those who have suffered by these attacks and that the families would hold strong to Christ.
