3/25/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – On Sunday, the Vatican held a day of remembrance for martyred missionaries on Sunday. Pope Francis highlighted the suffering of Nigeria’s Christians, calling for prayer. He is quoted as saying that “remembering the modern-day Calvary of our brothers and sisters persecuted or killed for their faith in Jesus is a duty of gratitude for the whole Church”. The Pope called for prayer for the healing of victims and their families who have been subjected to the violence across Nigeria.

This comes after nearly 300 Christians who have died since February 2019. The deaths of Christians in Nigeria has prompted concern and prayers from many around the world. By helping to raise awareness and highlight action that can be taken, ICC and others hope to see pressure being put on the Nigerian government that has allowed this persecution to continue.
