12/26/2018 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), claimed that the Christians of Pakistan have greatly contributed to the nation in the fields of education, vocational training and defense. As Christians celebrated Christmas, the party leader went on to say that the Christian community deserves recognition and applause for these contributions.

In Pakistan, Christians face persecution on a daily basis. Often, they are relegated to the lowest rungs of Pakistan’s social ladder because of their faith identity.

This Christmas, many Christians feared their community would be targeted by extremists. In recent history, extremists have targeted Christians on major holidays to increase the impact of their attacks.

Many Christians in Pakistan are pleased with the leader of a major political party in Pakistan recognizing the contributions of Christians to the nation. Hopefully this is a sign of positive change for Pakistani Christians in 2019.
