China Threatens to Fine Church if it Does Not Close
ICC Note: As China continues to regulate churches across China, it sees civil law as a tool to suppress the church. One of the most recent events involving China’s legal tactics to target the Christian church is found in Northeastern Heilongjiang province where authorities command the closure of an unregistered church and threaten the issuance of a large fine if demands were not obeyed.
09/10/2018 China (ChinaAid) – The leader of an unregistered church in China’s northeastern Heilongjiang province received a notice from the authorities on Tuesday, threatening a hefty fine if the church members refused to submit to government censorship.
