Growing Christian Genocide in Nigeria Exceeds 6,000 in Six Months
ICC Note: Christians continue to be a recurring target for Islamist radicals such as Boko Haram and Fulani militants in Nigeria. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) estimates that more than 6,000 Christians have died in Nigeria only at the hands of jihadist for 2018 so far.
8/17/2018 Nigeria (Tribune Paper) – According to the Christian Association of Nigeria, more than 6,000 Christians have been murdered by Islamist Jihadists since the beginning of 2018. Not many people outside Nigeria seem to care.
The Nigerian government has frequently attributed these murders to clashes between farmers and herdsmen. During the Obama Administration, U.S. State Department personnel were quick to attribute this violence to inequality, poverty, and unemployment and to assert that the violence could not possibly be related to religion, Sharia Law, or Jihadist ideology.
